Hands down, the LV retrospective in the homage to Marc Jacobs article in January's VOGUE U.S. wins this battle for me. LV's campaign makes me just wanna buy some cotton candy and murder a Strawberry Shortcake doll with it. Yeah, kinda sucks when you shell out million$ for an ad campaign that gets creamed by a magazine. But to be fair, it is VOGUE and we all know the power of Coddington- aka the real HBIC of Vogue US - is beyond supreme.

Better luck next campaign season, LV.

Monumento a la Patria in Mérida, Yucatan Mexico [instagram @RGratz].

How's it going, mothalovahs!! I've been crusading around my Mexican homeland for the past weeks with the fambam and had such an amazing time fiesta-ing it up that I have left my blogging shenanigans on hold. With roaming the Spanish colonial streets of Mérida, tanning on the beaches of Puerto Progreso, dancing into the wee hours of the morning in Villa de Peto, and Indiana Jones-ing at the ruins and cenote swimming at Dzibilchaltun... I squeezed every adventure with my family possible and thus 3 weeks went by in a matter of 2 seconds.

I'll for sure be uploading some pictures of my Mexican shenanigans but for right now I just wanted to say that I hope you all had such an amazing holiday season and ringed in the New Year just spectacularly without too much of a hangover (I can't say the same for me, hah).

Here's to love, success, and happiness showering us all in 2012! :)

I have failed the fashion pantheon because I have no freaking idea how this spread escaped my grasps entirely. As a matter of fact I don't know how I didn't snatch up the whole October issue of Dazed & Confused because apparently it was guest edited by Riccardo Tisci and we all know what a dark beauty mastermind he is. I must have had a temporary lobotomy because that's the only reason I can think of for not having had this all up on my fashion radar. I need to load up on those Omega 5's, or is it 3? I probably need all of them.

Anywho, get ready for a hauntingly hedonistic ode to Givenchy, mothalovahs!

Bra-the EVIL-O to photog Matthew Stone and stylist Katy England!!! This is the manifestation of my dark and twisted fantasies all wrapped up in a murderous array of intermixed Givenchy collections. I can't stop staring, I can't stop clenching my fists in glory, I can't stop biting my lips in orgasm... I can't stop being lewdly poSseSsEd by this editorial. I really hope that as punishment for not acknowledging the existence of this spread that THE Givenchy gang of Willy Cartier, Chris Moore, Clifford Mamotte, Hyacinthe de Geyer dOrth, Kasia Struss, Lea T., Mariacarla Boscono, and Saskia de Brauwthat haunt me in all my dreams from here on out. It's harsh but I deserve it. Really. I do. Please!?!!

versace for h&m cruise collection; the mens lineup.

I have yet to recover from the first Versace for H&M hysteria, so much so that 5 out of the 6 items I landed on haven't made it out of their green-blue leopard garment bags and this morning Tella dropped the Versace for H&M Cruise collection. Crazinessssss! Not going to lie, I was pissed when I heard rumours that this business was going to happen. The "once in a lifetime" vibe about the collabs are what makes it worth freezing your genitalia out in the cold. So WTF! But I guess the Versace team got a sniff of my rancid evil eyes and decided to mess me up by making this Cruise collection only available in select countries in Europe online to have the last laugh. Figures. They're probably talking about me to my arch nemesis Lagerfart too. At first I wasn't upset because I got a look at some of the girl creations and they looked like Candyland and Strawberry Shortcake had made an illegitimate lovechild. But then, this morning, I checked out the mens lineup:

No fruity prints?? No gaudy studs? No palm trees!??? Can this be so?? Actual normal clothes by Versace??? I dig it, I dig it, I diiiiiiiiigggggggg iiiiiittt!! I know some fashiontrolls may say that it's too average or too boring, but for me, I'm all about being able to actually wear crap and even better, wear them without people noticing I wore it a week ago. The palm tree gear from the last collab, although crazy cool, you're only allowed to wear once a month or else you'll turn into "the weirdo with the palm tree obsession" - not good. So this collection definitely gets my seal of obsession. I want all the shorts, all the button downs, both pants, and the cobalt blue tee & cardigan NOW! I just have to find a way to Mission Impossible my way into Europe on January 19th kidnap Allegra Versace and have the ransom be paid out in Versace for H&M Cruise gear because I'm still broke from the last collab. the man-haraja wore chanel

Lagerfeld held his 'Metier's d'Art' court yesterday at the Grand Palais in Paris with an intricately beautiful homage to Indian culture for his CHANEL Pre Fall 2012 collection. While I expected the fashionsphere (and myself) to hand over their souls to Lagerfeld as they oooh'ed, aaaah'ed, and coochie popped about the lady creations (I did), I wasn't expecting to gravel upon some man-digs dipped in rupee-loving. Yeeyaaaahh!

The modern take on the great Maharaja's of India into menswear is freaking awesome. The looks are royally grand, freshly clean and have the perfect amount of bling. I'm fascinated with Lagerfeld showing us what the CHANEL man (rare breed, but they do exist!!!) would don as formalwear for the 2012 season. I absolutely dig them all, even the flashiest look of the brocade coat and the Ghandied out rendition of Aretha Franklin's infamous Obama inaugural bow hat titillate me. But the ~~pièce~~ look de résistance is definitely this bad boy:

From the radly draped maroon zip up to the pant-on-pant action with a black shoe... it's a look that has an extreme wearability factor. I respect the tweed out of CHANEL but it's a bit hard to take most of Lagerfeld's creations from a fantasy design world to the actual real mortal world, at least so effortlessly, so this entire look is making my nipples harder than this cold San Francisco weather! I could easily jump the model back stage, high jack this entire look like I did with the entire Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 collection (yes, it was me, guilty!), and then walk the streets to head to class while simultaneously being snapped up by the lenses of Bill Cunningham or The Sartorialist. Yeah, these digs are THAT epic!! Jai ho, mothalovahs, j a i mothalovahing h o!!

Lately I've been seeing an influx of too many peacoats around the streets of San Francisco. Although I do appreciate and own various peacoats myself, I hate when I start looking like a drone. While thinking of ways to change up my outwear, I thought of taking it back old school and going with the original cold weather wear favorite; knits!

Last night was the big Versace for H&M Palm Tree Appreciation club meeting, aka the launch event, in Manhattan, which included a runway show, performances by schizzo mess Nicki Minaj and the immortal artist currently known as Prince, and some private shopping (damn you, fashion illuminati!!). After getting some rest from tweeting a #VersaceForHM wreck last night, I woke up to the official viral video/commercial plug on the fashionwebs.

Get ready for a whole lot of psychosis a la Versace!

After years of intense DIY therapy, I am back to square one as I'm in a current state of awesome WTF crazy. I still don' even know if I'm in real life mode right now. But ya know what? I diiiiggggg it!!! I would be the first to sign up to live at Tella's (yeah, we're close like that) House of Crazy in a heart beat!! Her house, her rules, her pleasure!! Psycho paradise heaven! Just as long as I'm paid in Versace for H&M pieces, of course.

Btw, one more week until the collection drops at select H&M's nationwide on Nov. 17th!! Screw the Occupy Wall street camp outs... it's going to be all about Occupy H&M! Yes, my maniac self will be camping out the SF H&M store!

rendez vous-ing with j. crew & their head of womens design tom mora in SF!

As our late Indian summer decided to high tail it's crazy self out of San Francisco (it was amazing but I've been craving some REAL Fall Bay Area weather!), the rain (that's more like it!) ushered in J. Crew's Head of Womens Design Señorito Tom Mora into the newly revamped J. Crew store at the Westfield Center for a little private rendez-vous.

While I sipped up all the wine and gobbled up all the hors d'oeuvres - I'm not lying; there was a point where none of the ladies wanted to drink nor eat anymore and since I was 1 out of the 4 guys at the store & a college man at that, plus my mama taught me to never be a rude guest, the waiter just parked himself next to me - fellow fashioncritters oooh'ed, aahhh'ed, and bagged up the current stellar Holiday Collection.

I was able to get some time with Tom and to stop myself from trying to successfully manage to sneakily highjack his ridiculously rad cobalt blue accented scarf (you all know how I'm a sucker for a good MANcessory!), I asked him what he thought was a Fall must have item for our lady friends. Surprisingly, it was not a dress, nor heal, nor it-bag, but rather an it-color that he referred to as Tomato Red! I've already professed my affinity for pops of bold colors during the grey season, so right then and there, I knew Tom was my FSBFL [Fashion Soul Bro For Life]!

Karlie Kloss and other fashion babes paraded around in designs by the CFDA/Vogue Fund nominees at Casa de Anna Wintour in the Upper East Side yesterday. Now Karlie hasn't been a stranger to an "Eat A Cookie, Damn It!" campaign against her but I always attributed her delicate forever 12 years old centipede frame to her trysts with Peter Pan in Never Ever Land but now that I've come across this picture, I'm starting to think Tinkerbell and Rufio don't exist! Yes, shizznit just got real! Karlie DentalKloss looks like a graduate of the Academy of Nicole Richie, class of 2006.

I know fashionwhohaha's can say it's the angle, the dress, the lighting, or perhaps that drink glass in the shot is actually jumbo-enormous-sized bc it belongs to the Green Giant and Karlie just looks "small" compared to it, but gangstahs, if you can "trick" the camera into looking like the next child, not spokesman, of a Feed The Children ~~guilt trip~~ infomercial, you've got 3 orders of french fries, 5 McDoubles, 7 milkshakes, and 9 bean burritos calling your name asap!! The Zeus of the technology world and co-founder/innovator of Apple, Steve Jobs sadly went back to Mt. Olympus yesterday, Wednesday October 5th, at 56 years young after battling health problems attributed to a rare form of pancreatic cancer. Although it's such an incredible loss to the tech arena, his legacy will forever live on as he has reshaped the digital world forever. I think it is safe to say that he has a permanent spot in the top 10 of world innovators of a lifetime.

This morning I was in downtown San Francisco and happened to pass by the Apple flagship store and like many other Apple stores nation and world wide, people have been paying tribute to Steve Jobs, leaving behind notecards, sticky notes, flowers, and even actual apples. I stuck around in awe for a while because 1. this Apple store was THE Apple store - remember, Steve Jobs created the Macintosh in the Bay Area California- as SF has been the symbolic motherland of Apple, so it felt like we, the Bay Area brethren, were mourning the loss of a cherished family member and 2. I literally could not stop thinking about how much of an incredible revolutionary force Steve was. It really boggles my mind on how a single person can be so groundbreaking and influential. See, many can create things, but not many people can create actual worlds and empires with their creations. Steve was one of them. He was the Da Vinci of our time and technology.

RIP, Mr. Steve Jobs. iForever.

alexander mcqueen s/s 2012; the armour of the an etherial goddess warior.

Phenomenal. Otherwordly. Just oh-so McQueen! There's nothing more I can really say to describe how outrageously unbelievable this collection is. Sarah Burton is not only keeping Lee alive but also moving the house forward in glorious ways. The collection itself is a pantheon of romantically feminine & powerful goddess warriors decked out in lustrous golden metallics, valorous dark leathers, and ethereal lace masterpieces. And like any true powerhouse, the glory is within the ultra intricate detailing. I don't even understand how so such craftsmanship can be possible in this world. Again, otherworldly!

Instead of bogging you down with how I'd sacrifice my teeth and my Missoni for Target cardigan (hey, bitches are buying that sold out shit for thousands of dollars on ebay!) to the Temple of Alexander McQueen, I'll leave you with an array of close ups of the rigorously magnificent details. take a dip under the sea with chanel s/s 2012.

There's always a ton of shows to pay attention to during fashion week, especially Paris Fashion Week. I know, I know... as a fashion loving chap (fashion blogger sounds stupid to me) I should be keeping up to date with it all, but I've got a life to drink away. While some collections get 10 minutes of my time, some get a whopping 2 hours of it. CHANEL is one of them.

This time around Karl Lagerfart decided to take us under, what I think to be, a winter wonderland Easter-esque sea promenade. The color ways were beautiful tones of faint blues, corals, sea foam greens that created siren creations of dresses (apparently the Chanel woman doesn't wear pantalones or shorts for the s/s 2012 season) in lightweight tweeds, leathers, and chiffon.

In general, I find every CHANEL piece to be very couture-like, even though it doesn't fall under the haute couture collections. The impeccable attention to detail by Lagerfart is always damn supreme. I literally spent 3 hours just zooming in and out of this collection and pretty much having an OCD visual orgasm. I digged the use of silently embedded pockets, the multi-purposeful useage of pearls as buttons, belts, and hair pins, and most importantly the stupefying manipulation of shredded & non-shredded chiffon and tweed to create the illusion of fish scales. Plus the use of iridescent chiffon in some of the creations was complete underwater genius.

Oh, and before I go, another thing I thoroughly cried in a "holy Baby Jesus, F I N A L L Y!!" praise was the decrease of ill fitting boxy & matronly shapes that I find CHANEL to be plagued with. Seriously, a lot of their past pieces look like bedazzled & printed potato sacks to me. But this time around I found slimmingly sensual silhouettes that would be fit for any fancy shmancy mermaid.

Had another little adventure at SAKS in San Francisco the other day with Mama Gratz.

My family and SAKS have had a pretty stellar & nurturing relationship over the years - it was the first place I discovered cologne and my little sister her first chinchilla coat when we were just grade school chipmunks (damn, how the years have gone by!)- and they constantly treat us so nicely when we head in. Always a happy SAKS camper. :D

emanuel ungaro s/s 2012- some pieces to love.

I feel that a constant black cloud is always sitting on top of Emanuel Ungaro. It seems that it's always treading in water and waiting to come in at a disastrous last place at the Paris Fashion Week Olympics. Especially after the fashioncrowd mowled down it's Lindsay Lohan collection (I didn't find it THAT craycray to be honest) and since it's had an onslaught of creative directors come and go faster than Karl Lagerfeld can suck the youth out of his muses, it's hard for it not to be seen as a joke fixture of a house. It's really sad because Emmanuel Ungaro used to be such an iconic house in it's earlier days of the 80's and 90's. Anywho, I took a gander at their s/s 2012 collection and I found some pieces that I thought were quite spectacular in their own right:

I find these pieces to be very whimsical and beautifully sensual. I feel they'd make ladies looks absolutely stunning and coi. The blue/red watercolor-esque print pieces may have been used a bit too much - like, they said "I love this print... so let's make it into a pant, a dress, a jumpsuit, AND a thong, AND a babyseat cover, AND burka, AND a bathrobe, and everything we can!!" - but I rather enjoy them very much as independent pieces and also because they stay true to the bold color palette that made Ungaro a hard hitting phenomenon during it's prime. I guess I just want to believe that the House may jump back unto it's feet one day. I'm a sucker for heritage and tradition, and Ungaro has worked the fashion corners for 40 years to fall all the way apart. Please, someone save them. Please!

Here's to hoping the rain stops at the House of Emanuel Ungaro.

I finally sucked it up and bought myself some of their "Monsieur" pieces; a beautiful navy blue shawl collar neck sweater and a pair of impeccably tailored slim cut gray pants. I've been in love with Viktor and Rolf ever since I laid eyes on their s/s 2009 digital catwalk with fashion supreme Shalom Harlow. The Amsterdam duo natives take me to places that I can never truly process in every one of their collections. Just grand. Although I'm all about their livelier and cookier womenswear creations, I absolutely inhale their menswear collections that are always both dapper and uniquely visionary & modern.

pierre balmain diffusion line drops; lookbook included!

Once upon a blog post ago, I had told you guys about Balmain rolling out a diffusion line, aka charity case for the kinda-rich (the $180- $1,200 range is still a bit steep but do-able) has finally dropped! But just in case some of you have been ill and out of the fashionscope here's what the line is all about:

Now that we're all caught up to speed... the line is now alive and amongst us!! It was unveiled yesterday during Paris Fashion Week but sadly it wasn't in a form of a runway or presentation but rather just a simple viewing of the clothes in a showroom á la stylist style. But fortunately for those of us that aren't part of the fashion illuminati, Balmain has composited a lookbook of the entire collection for us. Rock on, mothalovahs!

Crumple these up, liquify them, and inject me with them because I want to overdose on every single piece!! I absolutely dig the zebra printed embedded within the collection, the rocker fits are phenomenal, and the overall vibe makes me want to change my name to Gaston Deadheart (that's a gothy-rocker name, right?), move to Paris to chain smoke like a 15 year old Catholic school kid and punch random strangers with my beloved "I'm too Rock N' Grungy for this world" troll Taylor Momsen. Plain and simple, these pieces are the epitome of high street-wear radness. What I'm also digging is that the line doesn't look like it's trying hard to be a wanna-be Balmain groupie. Yes, it does hold true to Balmain's rocker chic aesthetic but it also has it's own infused entity going on. Rock on! Also with diffusions lines and collabs, I'm always throwing an Anna Wintour stink-eye because the gents never get the same love (I'm looking at you, Missioni for Target, Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's, Lanvin for H&M!) but Balmain definitely delivered! Ten fold! I've always dreamt of the day I would stomp around my neighborhood as the male version of badass Paris Vogue Editrix Emmaunelle Alt and that day has come, mothalovahs!

versace for h&m; the madness begins... editorial preview & ad campaign!

Over the summer the fashionwebs was jizzing itself in excitement as it was unveiled that Versace would be the next designer slated to laugh all the way to the bank with H&M. As a mere plebeian, I also climaxed. It's freaking VERSACE, how can you not? Well now that it's getting close to the mid November launch date, the colllab-collection is starting it's ho stroll. A couple days ago VOGUE Russia gave us a pleasant preview punch:

Che freaking bello!!! The collection looks damn savage! It definitely doesn't look like a cheap collab but rather straight up Gianni and Donatella mastery!! I'm crossing my fingers, eyes, hell even my tongue in hopes that the mensgear will be just as grand. Seriously. If the fellahs don't get as much love, I will go to Milan and forcefeed Donatella and Allegra! They haven't eaten real people food in decades, so this will surely be their true death! I kid, I kid... not really, I will calorie them up without blinking! I have no remorse when it comes to fashion.

And today, Versace's and H&M's minions unleashed their first ad campaign and daddy likes!!!

Lindsey Wixon, Daphne Groeneveld and Sasha Pivovarova make the best Versace lionesses/power bitches of all legendary time! I bow down to them! I gotta start scouring under my couches, bed, jean pockets, etc to fill up my piggybank because I will gladly give these ladies my lunch money once the collection drops. Bully me, bitches, BULLY ME!!

So what do ya think? Am I just being a crazy pseudo guido (the fancy kind- not Snooki)? Do DISCUSS!

I randomly found these bad boys while parusing the fashionnets...

Damn rad, eh?!!

They're from an Aussi brand called KSUBI that's compromised of 3 surfer bro's turned jean mafiosos. Wait, hold that peace pipe! Surfers? Designers? Awesomely brilliant jeans? Cheaaa! The two left ones are labeled as mens and the right ones are for the ladies, but for me, they're damn unisex (and not "we didn't have money for jeans this year so borrow your sisters" unisex or "I'm feeling bloated, boyfriend can I borrow your jeans?" unisex either but actually UNISEX-UNISEX!). The fits are both slim/skinny but since they're interwoven with spandex, you get a nice stretch all up in it (aka, your twinkleberries/uterus can breath!) and the color selection is like nothing my denim-dazed eyes have seen out there. I enjoy my jean-ie tones of blue but sometimes a fellah just needs a bold radfreakingtastic color in his pantalones. Especially since Fall is right around the corner, people tend to forget that COLORS do exist, so it's important to temporarily blind them with a pop of lightning. Which reminds me, I apologize for the cataracts I may cause this fall season.

Designer duo Alan Eckstein and Timo Weiland have made me weak at the knees! Their RTW 2012 collection marked the first time they've done a runway show and boy was it quite the cherry popping! Known for their down to earth vibe, this time around they amped up the volume BIG TIME! The contrast of bright reds, mustards, and aquas mixed with forrest greens, browns, and blues was genius! The superb detailing in this collection was also a first and damn phenomenal for the TW team. The chiffon finishes, chambray glory, floral prints, plus the shoes and necklaces... just superb and FUN!! It's urban. It's beachy. It's BOTH!!! Even though it evokes beach waves, I can see a person wearing it in the urban bustle of any city. It's like beach bunnies/bums decided to grow up, get a job, and move into the city to become chic beach bunnies/bums to surf through the metal crowds. Phen.Nom.En.Al! Plus I'm heavily crazy in love with the floral greatness in the mensgear. KILLER!

Come December, the rocker house of Balmain will be cranking out their "Pierre Balmain" diffusion line as promised. Which is a good thing because if they didn't come through on their word, I was going to sue them for "breach of contract" or "irreparable emotional damage" or whatever that 1-800-CALL-A-LAWYER would advice me to do. I take my safety-pinned, cigarette burnt, tar coated clothing very seriously!

After scouring the fashion-nets, here's some things I love and some things I'm throwing a stink eye to:

Pros:
* 90% cheaper than the regular line; pieces will range from t-shirts starting at $175 to evening wear at $1300 max.
* Equal gender opportunity; MEN. WILL. GET. SOME. LOVIN!!! AMEN!
* Judging from these preview pics, they're staying true to the Balmain aesthetic.

Cons:

* Christophe Decarnin's replacement, Olivier Rousteing WONT be heading this "project." Instead, it'll be outsourced to some ~~minimum wage interns~~ design team.
* $175 t-shirts!!???

I guess the price point is fine and workable but Olivier not overseeing this line is not. Supposedly he's too busy working up his first real collections (his cruise collection was awesome, but fall/winter and spring/summer is really where it's at) as Balmain's new creative director. I kinda get that he's focusing on that jazz bc he's still new & has to get good with the Wintour, but if we have Lagerfeld who is 900 years old and is farting out side-projects left and right harder than a Kardashian speed-dialing the paparazzi, I don't see why Olivier can't at least bless this diffusion line. Smells rancid to me. But it won't stop me from trying to get my hands on something- that is, if/only there's something worth oogling about.

It's comes to no surprise that I enjoy a good MANcessory, especially when it comes in the form of a timepiece. I've been an avid collector of watches for quite some time now (I was racking up cool points with my Mickey Mouse velcro watch since my playground days!) and I'm highly picky about what makes the cut. So I'm super excited and stoked to share with you an ultra sicktastic timepiece that will surely leave you obsessed!

Behold...

This badboy keeps on murdering me with it's greatness time and time again! Pun totally intended. Ever since I met face to face with the Prodigy PR 102 (thanks, Noell!!! I owe you my first born child!), it's been nothing but absolute MANcessory heaven! I'm crazily infatuated with its ticking prowess. Sometimes when I look over to see what time it is, I end up starring at it's black, white, and golden brilliance and fine details so much that I begin to serenade it a bit. Get your hands on one and I promise you'll be doing the same. Scouts honor.

Here's what we're working with...

Yeah, pretty much an epically outstanding timepiece of greatness! But not only is the Prodigy PR 102 such a beguiling badboy (seriously, the attention it's received when I've worn it, is crazy!) but it deserves utter praise for its incredible wearable versatility. It has the beauty of a high & mighty "going out" watch yet has the ease of a sporty "day to day" creation. It can totally go both ways but regardless of how you wear it, you will always get a mass feeling of luxe. That in itself is hard to come by these days and especially at such a great price point of $160. So mad kudos to Meister!!!

I could write on and on about how much The Prodigy PR 102 is to me what a doe-eyed naïve young model is to Terry Richardson, but instead seeing that a picture is worth a thousand ~~words~~ Anna Wintour nods (which btw is the ultimate sign of her esteem and affection!), I've decided to showcase my newest MANcessory obsession in a little picture homage taken by yours truly.

If you're not keeling over in an unhealthy MANcessory daze than may Zeus have mercy on your soul! I'm only ~~slightly~~ kidding, mothalovahs!! I'm really happy with how my little project turned out but it wouldn't have been as great without the star attraction that is the Prodigy PR 102. Any other watch and it would've flopped like MTV's TRL did when Carson Daly left or like every J.Lo movie made after Maid In Manhattan. For serious.

While downing a $2 beer that I had artfully sneaked out of a Taco Tuesday establishment, I stumbled on to (literally) a glorious sunset casting its orange shroud upon San Francisco and was inspired to wander around the city in an orange daze for my next shenanigans.

Naturally, I automatically started drawing up MANfits for this adventure to-be and hit up the fashion-nets. In a perfect world, I'd hit up MrPorter, LuisaViaRoma, or SSENSE but my ass is Real Housewives of New Jersey broke from my lolligagan AND it's summer and that means I'm only interested in basic, thin, barely-there pieces- pieces that should NEVER cost in the hundreds. As much as I'd like to say "this isn't just a gray plain t-shirt, it's 3.1 Phillip Lim gray plain t-shirt!" in a Draco Malfroy slithering hiss, I can't drop it low for basic Fruit of the Loom-esque pieces, that, and I'm running out of organs to sell on the black market. So to keep it real I head to Forever21. Yes, Forever21! I have recently discovered that they carry a mensline dubbed 21Men that is not only insanely well priced but is actually pretty damn legit in it's style aesthetic. Whaaaaa?? Jackpot!

Here's what I came up with for a sunlit tangy color MANfit:

If you were expecting an all orange jumpsuit from the Lindsay Lohan School of Hardknocks collection, je suis sorry. Yup, it's only one orange tank but everything else was picked based upon it- it was my foundation so to speak. Summer daywear = simple. Nada fancy, nada complicated, just effortless cool. I've been going for a gypsy vagabond wanderer vibe infused w a GQ dandy element. Which is exactly what I feel the above look encompasses just perfectly. It's naturally jovial, pleasantly free but still debonairly sharp.

And I didn't forget the ladies...

Boho gypsy whimsical playful love child- that's what I was going for with this female rendition. Perfect for parading around Haight & Ashbury after sipping on a giant Mimosa glass. Now, I'd like to point out the earring selection for this getup. I chose two styles but I only put one of each pair for a reason- you'd only be wearing one of each at the same time. Yup, one of each. Same time. I think it'd add a lil creative spark and it's summer, the perfect time to experiment. Do it!

As the summer days are quickly counting down, I hope you all hit up the summer rays as much as possible and make sure to visit 21Men or Forever21 for some legit and well priced items for your SUMMER LOVING shenanigans!

And THAT, mothalovahs, is how you do chic gay pirate! I really hope John Galliano is taking notes in his "I ♥ Moses" papyrus notebook I sent him because MJ is doing John Galliano better than John Galliano does John Galliano! Actually, I might have it all wrong and instead perhaps this is Galliano's cousin who left the dungy pirate ship to go to college in the big city, became a sophisticated lad(y), and is all "classier than thou" at Thanksgiving dinners. Indo0obitahhhbliiieeee!

But on a real note, I dig this concept by INDUSTRIE; it's simple yet playfully interesting. Also, I rather fancy Marc with fluffy long dapper tresses. Honestly, look at him and I dare you to tell me the kid doesn't look praisingly smashing!! I. COURTNEY LOVE CRAZY DARE. YOU!

MJ, if you haven't already, I highly suggest you give some serious thought to snatching back Megan Fox's 2011 Golden Globes hair-piece. I know she let you borrow them for the shoot but I'm sure she'd understand.

The CFDA Fashion Awards, aka the Oscar's of American Fashion, were last night in Manhattan [which btw, head on over to my twitter to check out the redcarpet images!]. But who cares about the boys of Proenza Schouler winning Womenswear Designer of the Year or the fashion maven that is Phoebe Philo being honored with the International Award for her work for Céline, nope, because Lady Gaga was the shining ho of the evening as she strutted down the red carpet to nab the Fashion Icon Award.

But before I go on to praise the Gagaloo, I must go on a rant first- I figure it'd balance things out since I can't have myself sound like a full-fledged little monster. I just died a bit even saying those two words.

Here we go,

When I first heard that the CFDA was going to give the Gagadroid the Fashion Icon Award, I knew the rapture did occur on May 21st and I was one of the lost souls damned to live hell on earth. I think Gaga has had some interesting costumes since ~~the illumanati fed her soul to beelzebub~~ she rose to being "the mother monster" but I don't consider her a fashionable person. She's more like a walking pop art piece than anything else in her "styling." I do admit though that there have been times when she's Naomi Campbell sucker punched me in the groin with stellar outfits but those have been very rare and seldom. So Fashion Icon? Mmmmm, not so much. At least not yet. Plus, there are countless other people who have been tearing up the fashion game with their musings with actual "fashions" - *ahem Madonna, Daphne Guinness, Lauren Hutton, Suri Cruise* - but clearly logic/merit gets trumped by media whoring a la Kardashian for the CFDA trolls.

Anyways... there must've been something fishy going up in the fashion heavens because my nipples perked up when I saw the Gagaloo at the CFDA red carpet. She looked savagely phenomenal!

Her Mugler getup was darkly chic and tastefully high fashion. No eye sore here. No mistaking avant-garde with "how fucking weird and deranged can I look because I think that's fashion" here either. Color me surprised and amazed because I was on my knees in awe. And since I'm a sucker for anything turquoise, her bob was the cherry on top. She definitely turned it out big time but it's still no enough for me to praise her as a fashion icon (maybe if she had more moments like this, I'd rethink it).

And then she snapped her dress off and accepted her ~~Saving The CFDA Fashion Awards with Media Coverage~~ Fashion Icon Award in her finest church wear attire.

Spiked thong included.

Did Anderson Cooper try on the spiked piece and hurt himself causing him to leave his hosting duties early? Likely.

But the best part of her night was her third act of disrobing when she removed her bustier/corset to reveal her pastied lady tata's in her black sheer bodysuit as she Lindsay Lohan-ed into some club.

Seriously, did she graduate from the Dita von Teese School of Disrobing? Because that is true talent!!

But what's even better than a picture of her tramptastic outfit? Pictures of the Gagz gyrating her tidbits like the two months of rent she owes is due tomorrow in her tramptastic outfit.

Get. It. Gurl!

abbey lee + the journal = ad campaign for malnourished druggies??

The Journal just cranked out their latest issue with Abbey Lee Kershaw looking, ummm, well... interesting on the cover.

As soon as I gazed upon it, I flipped through my calendar to see if June was World Hunger Awareness month. It isn't. So then naturally I checked if it was World Strung-Out Druggie Awareness month too. Another no go. Seriously?? I haven't been this confused since I saw Enrique Iglesias' severed face-mole found a new home on Lady Gaga's mug (seriously, there are waaay better options out there.). I honestly feel like my face looks like it has just suffered from a seizure because I don't understand why The Journal thinks it's ok to have Abbey Lee look like she barely survived the Cold War, became an extra on CSI: NY as a back alley runaway crackhead, and wants to be the second coming of England's precious ashtray Pete Doherty. I don't get it. But then I saw these pictures of Abbey at the Fiat 500 by Gucci launch party from last week that makes me think there's something else going on here.

Holy skeletor! I always knew hanging out with The Crypt Keep, Lagerfart, for a prolonged period of time was bad for your health, but never did I imagine that he'd literally suck the life out of you. I mean, whaaa?? I can't even look at Abbey's face without wanting to 1. Look up words in the thesaurus for "fugly" and "haggard". 2. grab my rosary. and 3. call Model Protective Services. Alarming doesn't even begin to cover it. I mean, I do enjoy a dash of heroine chic served á la 90's but hell, even Kate Moss herself would tell Abbey to get her shit together! Too much, too sad. For shame at The Journal for capitalizing & pushing this morbid look forward- not just to the masses but also for Abbey. And WTF is that bread roll doing in the mix?? Perhaps it's her ration for the month? Yup, that explains everything.

Diane von Fürstenberg once said: "Beauty is health. If not healthy, you loose beauty." -- in our times, I hope everyone knows that this is the utter truth.

I'm currently prepping to hunt down Abbey. I'll be equipped with a spray tan machine, gallons of PediaSure, a bucket of deep fried chicken, and a ticket to R. Gratz Casa de Rehab. Kidnapping isn't kidnapping if you're saving someone's life!

Based on astronomical craziness summer doesn't officially start until June 21st but to that I have said "suck it" because I've decided that TODAY is the first day of summer. See, I have absolutely no responsibilities right now- no school, no internship, no nada. So yeah, it's summer! Time for me to scramble up my pennies and invest in some fine $4 bottles of Andre (gotta have that bubbly to celebrate the sunrays!), sit pool side all day like I'm some fancy retired oldballs at a retirement community, and also work on my secret spy skills & reflexes because each time I hear someone in the house, I have to hide as quickly as I can to evade the parentals asking me what I'm doing with my life. Hey, if they can't find me, I don't exist, right?? I. Will. Prolong. My. Freedom! Anyways just wanted to declare the start of my SUMMER LOVING! Off to recreate this Naomi picture at the beach...

But last minutely I realized that it was going to be the second most important wedding of the world (my marriage to Olivia Palermo being the first, obviously...) and I had to take notes to ensure the royals wouldn't upstage O and I. So I grabbed some string cheese and big jug of wine to add some fancy-shmancy ambience to the experience and plopped myself right in front of the tellie (ooh, I'm British!) to see it all go down from 1 am to 5:30 am.

I've got to praise discounted wine because it turned me into some crazed Royal groupie. I think there was even a point where I was speaking to Harry and William as if I were with them in Westminster Abbey. In an British accent, too. Booze, sleep deprevation and Royal shenanigans are a great combination! Anyways, then I saw ~~Kate~~ Catherine come out of her Rolls Royce...

Holy greatness did she look breathtakingly beautiful, graceful, and classically lovely. She looked like, well, royalty. Truly befitting of a princess and a Queen-to-be. But I soon realized I was more taken aback by the whole experience than by her actual dress. As you SHOULD know by now, it was an Alexander McQueen creation by Sarah Burton. Because of this and the fact that Kate is relatively young, I expected some BAM! Maybe not a loud bam but at least a whisper of a bam. I know they were trying to go for something classic and modern but I didn't really see any modernity to it. I saw Grace Kelly. Which is absolutely an amazing thing to capture but I thought that a dress as famous as people had made Kate's dress out to be, I felt it should've made a fashion statement of grandeur. I'm no fashion guru but I do know what makes my fashion juices going and Kate's dress didn't slap me in the face with awesomeness. BUT again, she looked beyond magnificent and probably one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen. It may not have been a fashion moment but it was a beautiful moment.

As I mention, I became a Royal groupie and because of that I felt compelled to document the wedding, so I whipped out my iPhone and started shooting away at my tv screen as it happened LIVE.

For being slightly drunk, a zombie from pulling an all-nighter and the images coming via my iPhone, I think they came out damn well. I plan on making a little booklet and sending it over to Buckingham Palace. Mario Testino, prepare yourself because I'm 150% sure I will be the new Royal Photographer of the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Holler!

Rick Genest, aka Zombie boy, aka THE guy with his whole body tattooed as a skeleton, has been making his rounds in the fashionsphere and rapidly! It all started when Nicola Formichetti "discovered" him on facebook which then prompted Formichetti to make Rick his muse for his first collection as Thiery Mugler creative director. Then throw in some Lady Gaga dance scenes later...and Rick is now a bonafide fashion gangstah. Holler! Here's his latest editorial for GQ Style UK lensed by Karim Sadli where he dons... wait for it... Mugler! Which prompts me to ponder if his ride on the fashion train is a one way only trip. Is there life after Mugler for Zombie Boy? What will he do once he's all old and saggy? But let's focus only on the now (isn't that what we're obsessed with anyhow my little trendseekers?) and jeebus does Rick's spread make me cringe. But in the good way. It's surprisingly very beautiful to me. Creepy but somehow etherial and dare I say tender? How interesting and peculiar. I like!

What's the lesson here? Be as anathematizing crazy and live your life just the mothaloving way you want to because Nicola Formichetti will come and make you a star. I know there's a cool analogy in there somewhere. Work it out. I'm too lazy. But yeah, live as wildly as you deem fit!

Kanye. Coachella 2011. Part 2.

So if you aren't aware of things, I kinda went super psycho crazy on twitter last night about Kanye West's closing performance at Coachella while it was LIVE on youtube.

Yup, I definitely went THERE. I was kinda embarrassing like that annoying stage mom at her daughters first ballet recital or Tyra Banks watching herself on the intro of America's Next ~~Never Will Be~~ Top Model (you know she orgasms at the site of herself.). I exploded in Kanye awesomeness and you know what, I have no shame. I was definitely caught off guard because I'm no Kanye fan. I only wanted to view his performance because I knew something crazy would happen because of his antics, so I didn't want to miss out. Plus it was THE CLOSING of Coachella. I did not know that I'd be blown away by 1. his killerly EPIC Gypsy MANfit and 2. by the artistry of his performance.

He's like Lady Gaga to me; I like the music, hate the person but overall couldn't care too much. So me saying that I am now on Team Kanye is a BIG DEAL. I never thought I'd ever say such a thing but here I am and rightfully so. The guy just performed the fuck out of his heart (yes, I'm also amazed he has one too!) and left me stunned. Capital S, T, U, N, N, E, D! I was enthralled, hypnotized, crazed, and everything in between. I haven't seen so much passion, dedication, and love like I did during his performance. It was resonating and I could feel everything going through his mind and body. He. Killed. It. Sure, he's sure a big douchebag but right now, I applaud Kanye as an artist. Before you guys think the Illuminati has gotten to me, you can go youtube his performance and see that I'm not crazy for praising the guy.

But onto his MANfit...

I was soo taken aback by Ye that I had to blog while he was performing LIVE. Crazy shit, I know! I was for sure possessed by the fashion spirits. Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure I was one of the first if not FIRST to blog about his MANfit. Awesome. But here it is again:

The star of the MANfit is definitely the silk print shirt from the Céline S/S 2011 collection. It's free-flowing form was perfect for the modern hippie occasion that is Coachella. Actually, it IS Coachella! So extreme props to his styling team and Kanye for busting it out. But not only does it look like part of a desert gypsy dream but seeing that it's womenswear, I hope it'll make creative director Phoebe Philo want to create some Céline mensgear now. Seriously, can you freaking imagine!?? We can all potentially thank Kanye for this. And the MANcessories!?? Orgasm! You all know I have a deep and chronic infatuation with MANcessories - damn it, I call them 'MANcessories' for crying out loud! - so when I saw him raise his hands and I caught his pack of stacked mixed beaded and brass bracelets, my pupils dialated and my eyes glazed over. I died. It was waay too glorious. It's everything that I fucking love for the spring/summer season and have been rocking lately. And his golden layered bling was a legit touch because this whole MANfit was totally out of left field for Kanye and I felt like it was his way of Kanye-ing it out- it's Coachella Kanye. The jeans were chill and the shoes are apparently his new Nike Air Yeezy ones but I don't care too much for them, so you can google for them or whatever.

Kanye wore the same red suit (I think?) from his VMA's performance at the end of his Coachella shindig and I think it was meant more for adding bold power to his already powerful masterpiece of a performance than for actual fashion musings-- his first MANfit did that and then some. But here are some more LIVE screen captures I snapped last night and I even got some stellar ones of his MANcessory lineup.

I had noticed that Kanye had been doing quite well in the styling department in the past year but because I loathed his persona, I was blinded by how chill his style truly is. But after this Coachella greatness, the kid has all my respect stylewise. Not only that but I am also all over Kanye - the artist - after his performance of undiluted genius and insanely wondrous theatrics. Who would of thunk it. I'm still in shock.

I can't really write much right now because I'm watching Kanye live at Coachella via youtube (btw, thank Zeus for that!!). I'm completely blown away. I didn't know that he'd be this fucking phenomenal. I can't even. I just can't right now! I am burning with Ye-Fever! Boiling. The kid is ill like no other.

Blake Lively. Where do I begin. I'm having some trouble understanding how much of a grip on the fashiongame she has and why Anna Wintour thinks she's the best thing since she discovered the only plastic surgeon that does the 35 minute lunch-lipo is on the same block as her VOGUE headquarters. I became even more concerned when Karl Lagerfart announced her as the face of his Mademoiselle bag for CHANEL. No one can't deny that Blake is damn gorgeous and sizzling hot. But I also happen to know exclusively that Blake was birthed by short Marchesa dresses and a pair of sexilicous tan long legs in a science lab. So her and CHANEL? Not a likely pair. But perhaps Karl was thinking he'd capitalize on her sex chicka-bow-wow appeal and give CHANEL some gusto. But NOPE. Instead we're left with images of Blake right after undergoing a labotomy at the Rue Chambon shop.

What I find particularly hilarious is that there were rumors flying around that many CHANEL honchos were concerned that Blake was "too off brand"- pretty much, she was too much of a ho-looking floozy. And I guess their concerns were heard because Blake looks so freaking blah and dead in the face. But it gets even more hilarious because some bitches over at CHANEL PR's dungeon came out to defend Blake:

“Blake’s spontaneity and fresh youthful image have convinced Chanel that she is the right person to represent the house and this range of bags.”

Ummm, did they not get the memo that they decided to go with the "I've only had a Cheez-It all day" zombie look with Blake??? I've seen potatoes and zuchini's (yeah I don't know why I used vegetables but whatever) with more spontaneity and fresher looking than Blake does in this ad campaign. And I know there's been a series of budget cuts and all but did they really have to resort to having their intern use PhotoBucket for photoshopping?? The first picture leaves me concerned because those fingers look like octopus tentacles. Her index finger looks like it's trying to stretch itself out of the shot because he knew how much of an embarrassing dud these photos would be. He would not be associated with Blake nor CHANEL. And the second one is a plain out copycat bust because Natalie Portman already did the whole "Crazy psycho lurking in the mirrors" bit in Black Swan:

For shame on this whole catastrophe of undiluted boredom. FOR SHAME! Oh, how I enjoy when the Lagerfart fails. Fortunately the Mademoiselle sector of CHANEL wasn't brought down by Blake because Kiera Knightly's campaign is on fire!!

Now that's how you give good face! Kiera, you better sprinkle some of that onto Blake before her ass gets fired or we get another eyesore (Zeus knows that Lagerfart will not back down).

And yes, I do refer to him as LagerFART-- no typo.

I love when I'm walking around with my Café Americano in hand and then happen to stroll by some kind of street art. I enjoy how it takes me away from my world and thrusts me into a little escape of WTF because usually they never make sense with their surrounding. Love eclectic juxtapositions! Yet what I've noticed is that many street "installments" are actually very heavy in their nature. Although I do think some pieces are beyond brilliant, sometimes it's nice to just get a good hoot out of something for the sake of just being hilarious & FUN. Enter, the art of French street artist OaKoAk.

Sometimes the best statement is no statement at all but just plain humor. I find his work uplifting and makes me feel like a little giddy kid. I especially love how he gets inspired by the fixtures around him and then creates a little somethin-somethin to take it to the next level. Major kudos to whomever OaKoAk is!! =)

Katy Perry kissed an alien and I liked it!!

I've been jamming out to Katy Perry's E.T. pretty much every day for the past forever. The song is alluring, hypnotizing, and plain out makes me feel all sexualized and a playfully raw kind of naughty. So you bet that I was fervidly waiting for her to drop the video for it. And did KP deliver? You betcha! Get ready for some alien induced illumination of pure cosmic extacy!

I've never seen Katy like this before and to be honest I didn't even know she had it in her to be this glorious. I know that in 2 seconds the Gaga "Born this way" comparisons will ensue but gangstahs, Katy stayed and connected her visuals with her song -- something Caca never does (I still don't know what Alejandro and Nazism have to do with eachother??). The story line is spectacular and the creation of Katy's celestial-being is sensational, dazzling, and extremely captivating. I feel like it was the perfect amount of creative visual splendor; it was electrifying enough to take me on an intergalactic journey o f bliss without being "too creative" (Gaga, I'm looking at you!), overbearing and full of WTF moments (besides the Vogue product placement, but hey KP's gotta pay them bills!). Oh, and Shaun Ross as the extraterrestrial being??? Genius move!!!

All I need right now is one of those planetary cosmos Christopher Kane shirts so I can play this video on full blast and pretend I'm Shaun Ross. Yes, I have the hots for alien Katy Perry. Seriously, if this is what Scientologists believe in and can confirm to me that their cosmic "friends" look like alien KP, then consider me BFF's with Tom Cruise!!!

Lately I feel just like this picture; caught up in the middle with two sides pulling at me- one being work and the other school yet somehow unfazed by it. I've been pretty absorbed by both but I haven't landed in the complaining department just yet, which I find rather interesting seeing that I really really enjoy my free time. Guess I'm maturing? Haha. Wait. Possibly? Whaa?? But I have started to notice that my days are kinda blending into one blur and I'm usually left in a very "sigh" kind of demeanor. Like, I'm just there and complacent just like Willy Cartier in his recent spread by Mariano Vivanco in Numéro #21.

That's definitely not me... I've got too many layers of self-made crazy to act like the second coming of Nicole Kidman (we all know she's really a robot). So I'm going to make a huge effort of not being a Stepford ~~Wife~~ Boy or else I'll probably be booking into the Betty Ford Rehab Center shortly after I have my Charlie Sheen level meltdown. Yeah, that would be no bueno. BUT then again if someone were to film such a mess and puts it on youtube, I'd be an internet phenomenon. E! would surely come knocking on my door and offer me my very own show. Hmmmmmmmm, on second thought...

i went shopping at Mr Porter!!!

Well, window shopping that is!! I'm a college student and that means I'm damn broke, so if I sometimes have to resort to internet window shopping to get my luxury fixe... than so be it! It's actually one of my all time favorite ~~method of procrastination~~ hobbies these days.

If I had beaucoup buckaroos, this is exactly what I'd indulge in:

I call it my "artsy man going on a city stroll" look. I find this little get up to have a very cool and effortless demeanor that most would consider au courant if seen on a guy. The cool factor comes from not being... well ... cool. An understated chic, so to speak. I'm especially really drawn to the deep purple desert boots- adds a little surprise and pop into the mix. Plus lately I've been in a little subdued/earthy color toned daydream in my MANfit choices and I don't think I want to wake up anytime soon.

Gretchen Jones, project runway season 8 winner, fall/winter 2011.

Last season's winner of Project Runway just unveiled her first post-show collection for the Fall/Winter 2011 season and I am very pleasantly charmed.

I absolutely dig the relaxed and flowy silhouettes going on. There's something extremely sexy about a girl who has clothes just sitting on her and waving back and forth in nonchalantness as she struts right past you on the streets. It's like an Arizona chic modern wave that just caresses you on the face. Subtle perfection at it's finest. I love the rich earth-toned color palette, the styling, the plentitude of seperates, and the wearability is just real and superb for the simple yet modernly directed woman. Again, subtle perfection.

Get some.

P.S.
I think I also may be in love with this collection because the model is definitely evoking a cross between Olivia Palermo and Blair Waldorf in the face-- two of my Sexy-Can-I infatuations. Haha. ;)

Wasabbiiiiiiii, mothalovahs!!!!??? Oh my YSLCCMQ (the holy trinity that is Yves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, & McQueen, duh!) have I completely sucked a big one at blogging. With ho-ing myself out to classes and then becoming a slave at work (yes, I got one of those!! Whaaa??) day in and day out, I've had quite the hectic semester. When I do have some free time you'll either find me stuffing my face with some kind of glorious burrito/tacos/chimichangas/alloftheabove or giving my ~~drunken~~ best rendition of "Benny and the Jets" at some dive bar at the beach. Yeah, blogging hasn't been on my mind. Hey, would you rather me lie to you or own up to my bitchassness? Haha. BUT, I have been tweeting daily though (I know, how does that make sense???), so just incase I go on a bender again get your stalker-self over to my twitter @AnEclecticMind to see what I'm up to.

Anyway... so a lot has gone down since I've been on the ho stroll and I'm just gonna break the things down that matter to me most. So bare with me or go do something constructive.... yeah, like the latter will ever happen! hah.

1. GallianoGate:

When I first heard of Galliano's Mel Gibson escapades in Paris, I was shocked and about to fly over there and slap the peasantry out of the accusers for saying such a thing about my favorite real life pirate. Galliano? Anti-semetic? No chance. But as soon as I had finished my "Moses hearts Galliano" t-shirt, The Sun got ahold of a video (click to view) and a gaze of "Oh, hell to the naaah! Galliano, whyyyyy!!??" came over my face. This is what he so biligerently but clearly said:

"But I love Hitler. People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be fucking gassed. You're ugly."

My level of disappointment and disgust was worse than when I saw a man wearing overalls, a fannypack, and crocs at the same time! Horrendous! But seriously, it was just a very big let down to know that a person of such creative genius and designing greatness would carry such views. Taken that he was drunk, it still is no excuse to say such nauseating remarks EVER. I'm still in disbelief and I've become torn as to what to think of his work; a part of me can't deny how otherworldly talented he is as a designer and how his collections have enthralled me time and time again and then a huge part of me feels McDirty by supporting him. So that's my question, can/should you seperate the art from the person? Business versus personal? But how can you respect and love one and hate the other? It truly is quite a predicament. I'm also disappointed that we wont be able to see his creations for quite a long time. I'm positive this will blow over but not anytime soon. It's just a sad and unfortunate situation for fashion and just humanity in general. Au revoir, Galliano. For now.

2. The Oscar's:

The 83rd Academy Awards was on Sunday and everything went according to the illuminati's plan; Anne Hathaway constantly showed all her 32 porcelain veneers in 8 beautiful getups throughout the night, James Franco was stoned, Colin Firth and Natalie Portman got their respected Best Actor/Actress award, I ate a bag of Hot Cheetos. Now to the really important part... the red carpet!

This year, like every year, the red carpet was full of incredible masterpieces of designing glory. Definitely a stellar showcase of all that is stunning. I usually post all my favorite looks but I'm sure everyone has seen them plastered all over the fashionwebs, so I'm just gonna give you my best dressed of the night; Hilary Swank in GUCCI Premiere. Hands down!

Hilary looked like straight up royalty. Completely flawless. Who knew feathers and sequins could turn out something damn spectacular? Definitely not the other nominated floozies! I mean, Hilary was just presenting the Best Director award yet somehow managed to karate-chopp the crap out of everyone on the nominated list. Oh, Sensei, do teach them ladyfriends your ways! Perfection- there's no other way to put it. Just perfection. I wonder who her stylist is... anyone know? Because I need to send them a "thank you" basket full of my favorite things (Gatorade, Nutella, Post-its (I survive off of little notes), a hair lock of Justin Bieber, Carne Asada Fries (if ya don't know what they are, life hates you) and sexiness from my ~~obsession~~ beloved Anja Rubik.).

3. Kim Kardashian, the auto-tune mistress:

Apparently, the famewhore supreme that is Kim Kard-ASS-ian is trying to play pop singer and premiered her first single "Jam" over at Ryan Seacrest's radio dome.

This make-up layered cupcake said that she's just doing it for fun? Hahaaahaaaaa! I needed this laugh from my recent GallianoGate emotions of distraught, so gracias, K!! I really gotta give it to her--- her fame whoring antics are just superb- Guinness World Records worthy! But besides sounding like a 12 year old boarding school skank suffering from a narcissistic 90210 episode-- oh wait that's just Kardashian syndrome -- the song... wait for it... is kinda catchy. It took me a couple listens and I can see how this will surely infect idiot mortals. I am one of them because now I want to be referred to as R. Gratz Kardashian. My blogging sex tape with ChicMuse, The Sartorialist, and Fashion Toast will drop just as soon as Terry Richardson finishes editing it and "accidentally" leaks it.

4. ~~Madonna's~~ Lady Gaga's ~~Express Yourself~~ Born This Way Video:

I have a weird relationship with the Gagadroid. I truly believe she's an insanely talented artist with a phenomenal voice yet she's just a freaking truck load to handle. I dig that she commits to her "character" but she needs to chill out. It's like, ok, I get it... you're waaaaaaayyyy creative ALL.THE.TIME!! But anyways, I still enjoy her and I was really looking forward to her new single off her new album. Unfortunately it was a huge let down for me-- it sounded like a cheesy sermon from a self-esteem workshop and unoriginal because it's totally a morph between Madonna's Express Yourself and the hit gem that is Countess LuAnn's "Money Can't Buy You Class." Yeah, if David LaChapelle is suing Rihanna over her S&M music video, than Madge and the Countess need to act quick! I think the message in the song is really damn fantastic and much needed these days- self acceptance is a beautiful thing. But just because a song is geared towards the LGBT community it shouldn't make it a hit. Wait, I lied. I've tried to talk to my gay friends about their cult following of her and this is what I deduced as their train of thought: "she's talented, she loves the gays, she's sparkly, she's fierce, she loves the gays, she's crazy, she loves the gays." So I've concluded that if you gear yourself towards being a chancellor for the gays, you will surely become a star instantly. It's not that I think the LGBT community has no taste (seriously, they're the purveyors of all that is fashion!) but during these hard times, I feel like they, as a whole, are looking for someone to grasp onto as their superhero... so taaadaaa, Lady Gaga is their Mother Monster. So to all the people who say white people and rich people have all the power, think again... it's the glittery gays! Well at least in the pop culture media game, which btw isn't a bad thing because if you get someone into the spotlight, like LG, they can go on to infiltrate politics and society for your betterment. Great tactic! Anyhow, I've gone on a tangent because of my obvious frustration and I really hope that no one see's this as ill spirited against anyone (besides, Lady Caca of course.). Besides the really strange Illuminati-esque "Manifesto of Mother Monster" idiocracy (again, I get it... you're the chancellor of equality and gay rights, why must you constantly etch it into my skin!!???), the video us just pure visual grandeur. The graphics, the symbolysm, her amazingly fit body (dare I say... she's a hottie?), and the whole skeleton makeup in a suit bit with Nicola Formichetti's Thierry Mugler muse Rick Genest was beyond freaking EPIC!!! I go crazy over Gaga's vision but I would like her even more if she wasn't so "in your face" about certain things. That's all.

Now that my crazy has exploded on you guys I would like to thank you because I will not have to see my therapist this week, so thank you. Actually, now that I've found my way back to my bloggaroo I feel complete (ok, maybe I do need to see my therapist this week) and am back on the bandwagon!!! :)

What's up, mothalovahs!!!

I've failed and sucked at blogging for sometime now. I just start classes in San Diego and I have no real excuse- I've been parading around drunkenly, enjoying the jovial blaze, and sorta turning into a wandering gypsy man. If y'all were following me on twitter, you would know about my ventures. Oh, how the beach does the soul some good!! But I've finally woken up (kinda) from my vagabond dream and am back to the bloggosphere.

So to get things rolling and since it's all kinds of steroid movie awards season right now, THIS is a great start!!

How freaking glorious is this cover of Vanity Fair's 17th annual Hollywood issue?!??? Photog Norman Jean Roy, you are now my best bro fo lyyyfffeee!! Screw spreading democracy, if all these gangstah's would star in a film together (Greats Gatsby meets Gossip Girl meets Cruel Intentions???) every single political, health, and style crisis (Taylor Momsen, you still have a chance!) would be solved. Scouts honor. I mean, seriously... it's only logical!

Alright never mind, I'm just buying one and photocopying the crap out of it... hey, it's hard times for everyone!

Rodarte Sisters will NOT get an Oscar for Best Costume Design for Black Swan. Whaaa?

UPDATE [Jan 27th]: Guess I made a big deal out of this bc Black Swan didn't even get nominated for a Best Costume Design Oscar. Whaaaaa??? 2012 is definitely upon us!

Anyone who has seen Black Swan knows that it will definitely be in the running for various Oscars, one including the Best Costume Design one. But unfortunately after creating 40 phenomenal costumes and all of ~~Nathalie Portman's~~ Nina Sayer's stunning ballet gear, the talented Rodarte designers will not be up for an Oscar. The Mulleavy sisters didn't negotiate well and instead of getting frontend credit (a requirement to be eligible for a nomination), they ~~got dupped into~~ settled for backend closing credit and they also weren't part of the Costume Design Guild which is another must to be eligible for taking the little Bronze Man home. Instead, the frontend credited lead designer Amy Westcott will nab the statue.

It's really unfortunate for the Rodarte geniuses because they created some really astonishing and alluring pieces for Black Swan. You would think that they'd be all up in the know when it comes to contracts but then again, they weren't part of the ~~Lollipop~~ Costume Design Guild, whom I'm sure would've given them an "Ohhhh, hell to the nah!" and picketed/goneonestrike/whatevercrazinesstheydo for their rightful credit. Hell, if it was me, I would've brought in my Inspector Gadget magnifying glass and sat my self down until EVERYTHING was read, highlighted, and slashed. Seriously, if I'm gonna create some killer pieces that define a movie, I better get my name in big bold shinny letters in the opening! But kudos to the sisters for being very chill about the situation and instead being proactive and signing up with an agency and becoming members of the Costume Design Guild. No Oscar debacles in their future. I would have gone the opposite direction, raised hell and given the Screen Actors Guild an Oscar worthy crazy meltdown á la Nina Sayer. For the record, this is what I would look like:

I'm actually more worried about the lead costume designer Amy Westcott. If/when Black Swan wins the Oscar, I think it would suck to know you got an award that was solely because of someone else's work. It's kinda embarrassing. Actually, it's HARDCORE embarrassing! I mean, I don't know what she designed, but all the Best Costume Design buzz seems to be around the Rodarte pieces. This will surely make a rather interesting acceptance speech, non? I can already imagine: "I managed the budget, gave out orders to Rodarte, and organized so diligently. Thanks for acknowledging MY hard work. Thank you, thank you!!" I'm definitely going to be watching that night just for this little awkward spectacle.

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet. Make you want to move your dancing feet...

My buds and I randomly decided to head off to Santa Cruz for a little day trip over the weekend. Right before we left, it was a foggy and frigid morning in the San Francisco area, so we weren't expecting stellar weather but we didn't care. We just wanted to get out of our neck of the woods to just walk around, cause shenanigans with funny locals, and invade some excellent happy hours in somewhat unfamiliar territory. But after the hour and change drive, Santa Cruz greeted us with some phenomenally stellar sun rays and blue skies. Needless to say, we grabbed some cold beers and spent various hours on the beach until an equally spectacular sunset ended our unexpected day in paradise.
